What Is the Ruling of Prayer of Ragha'ib?

Prayer of Ragha’ib

Question:

What is the ruling of Prayer of Ragha’ib? What is its time?

Answer:

Prayer of Ar-Ragha’ib is the one that is offered on the night of the first Friday, in Rajab between Maghrib (Sunset) Prayer and `Isha’ (Night) Prayer, and is preceded by the fasting of the first Thursday of Rajab.

There is a consensus among the majority of scholars that it is an innovation (bid`ah) as it has not been mentioned in the Sunnah or even practiced by the Prophet (peace be upon him).

Responding to this question, Dr. Muhammad Salah states that there is no such prayer in the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace be upon him). It is offered in the first Jumu`ah (Friday) of Rajab and in the middle night of Sha`ban.

Do not miss watching this interesting fatwa to know the ruling of prayer of Ar-Ragha’ib.
